How would you fix housing in Akron?

Share your ideas about making Akron’s housing safe, well-maintained, and affordable

The Akron Civic Assembly on Housing was created to bring residents together to focus on a shared goal: safe, well-maintained, and affordable housing in Akron.

Do you have an idea on how to reach that goal? You're in the right place.

In Akron’s first Civic Assembly, housing ideas are gathered, refined, and stress-tested, then carefully deliberated by a randomly selected group of Akronites. Those resident-made recommendations don’t sit on a shelf—they’re carried forward by an Impact Team that works with the city and community partners to turn them into real action. Explore the whole process here.

The deadline for submitting ideas is February 6, 2026.

If it’s helpful, here’s a 13-page guide to housing in Akron today, put together by the Research Team. It includes what’s happening now, how housing decisions get made, and where residents feel the most pressure.
